Art Connections works with high school students applying to fine art and design college programs, helping showcase artistic talent, build a competitive portfolio, and navigate the unique application requirements of creative higher education. Customized niche consulting services may include:

• College Selection Guidance​: We help students and parents navigate the diverse world of art and design education. We assist in identifying schools that best align with individual student profiles, considering their interests, strengths, personality, and career goals. This includes exploring various specialized fields like animation, fashion, or museum studies. We also provide guidance on comparing traditional universities with dedicated art schools, helping students understand the unique benefits and drawbacks of each to make an informed decision.

• Portfolio Development​: Art Connections, is committed to nurturing each student’s creative potential, setting them up for long-term success both in art school and beyond. Our realistic approach ensures that students’ portfolios meet the varied requirements of different art programs, helping them create work that stands out to admissions committees. We encourage students to develop their skills, think independently, push creative boundaries, and gain the confidence needed to succeed in their artistic journeys.

• Application, Essay and Interview Coaching​: We provide assistance with crafting compelling artist statements, written essays, and mock interviews to prepare for applications. The process helps clarify artistic vision, personal voice, and unique story. Additionally, guidance is provided on letters of recommendation, including who to ask and what content to include, to strengthen an application.

• Presentation and Documentation​: Expert guidance is available for photographing both 2D and 3D artwork, along with recommendations for creating an effective digital portfolio site. Additionally, assistance is available for uploading work to portfolio submission platforms like SlideRoom.

• Experiential Learning​: A core value is the belief that various art and design experiences can significantly enhance a young artist’s development and understanding of the larger world. We seek opportunities for our students to visit professional art and design studios, attend gallery openings, artist talks, and explore diverse museum exhibits. We also encourage participation in design showcase events, touring production facilities and  to gain insights into creative processes and industry practices.

• Timeline, Planning and Oversight​: Navigating the application process becomes much smoother with a tailored plan. This involves creating a customized application calendar and checklist to oversee every step of the submission. We also assist with tracking deadlines, scheduling portfolio updates​ and reviews, and coordinating campus visits.

• Supplemental Support and Other Services: Comprehensive support is available for various aspects of an art education journey and career development. This can include researching art scholarships and financial aid opportunities,  guidance for beneficial summer programs, pre-college courses, and student competitions. We can also help in creating a resume or CV, connecting students with mentoring, internships, and professional networking in fine art or design fields. Skills development in areas like painting, life drawing, design software, animation, and more can be recommended to advance the student’s preparedness. Mock college interview and student portfolio reviews are conducted to simulate admissions committee feedback.
