About Julia Wyant
Julia’s artistic journey began during her Texas childhood with an affinity for drawing and painting. Encouraged by her family, Julia visited art museums in several Texas cities and beyond, and developed her skills throughout middle and high school art classes. Julia realized she would major in art in college and pursue a career in “commercial art,” as it was then called.
Julia attended Texas Christian University, in Ft Worth, TX with studio courses taught by mid-century abstract artist McKie Trotter, painter Jim Woodson, sculptor Harry Geffert and Welsh photographer Tony Jones. After transferring to Rochester Institute of Technology, in Rochester, NY, Julia studied with design professionals R. Roger Remington, Joe Watson and Joan Hantz while earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design. She also completed graduate-level history courses in Film, 20th-century music, Architecture, and Creative Writing.
Julia’s education provided the foundation for her career as a design professional focused on corporate branding, communications and art direction. As a designer working at Robert Meyer Design, Julia had the privilege of creating exhibition catalogues, collateral, and institutional publications for The George Eastman Museum in Rochester, NY. Julia considers this early work experience and her subsequent professional experience to be her unofficial master's degree in Photographic and Film History!
As founder, creative director, and co-owner of The Wyant Simboli Group, Inc., Julia identified and mentored designers, helping each person build skills in graphic design, production, client and vendor relations, and project management. Julia led creative branding and corporate communications teams, including illustrators, photographers, and printers, on hundreds of non-profit and business-to-business projects.
Through her personal beliefs and values – that all people are connected, mostly for good – Julia realizes how important art is for human connection, much like sharing music and food. She believes that art brings us together. While collecting art can be a rewarding investment, she feels it’s important to experience the vital energy of art every day and share stories behind the artist and artwork.
Julia believes that great things are possible when her lifelong love of visual art, and education combined with her business knowledge, people skills and passion for the creative process. Her revelation about the connecting power of art led to what Julia calls her “Me-piphany,” both personally and professionally, marking the beginning of a new creative chapter. Art Connections!
